We now offer parent-child and student discounts!

Hello. This is Chika from Machikoko staff. Today is Hinamatsuri (Girls' Day). The factory we're visiting gave the three Machikoko girls some three-colored dango (rice dumplings), which made us so happy! 🍡

What happened to the child who stepped inside the local factory?

Enjoy making things at a local factoryIn the "Town Factory Activity" where you can experience real machines,In response to your request,We've started a special discount plan for families and students! 👨‍👩‍👧

This time, we're reporting on the experiences of parents and children who participated together! What kind of experiences did the children have?

Two parent-child pairs came to our cutlery-making (sheet metal processing) workshop. After a factory tour, you'll create your own unique spoon and fork. 🥄

I got to use this laser machine and cut through thick metal, sending sparks flying. The laser moved in the direction I controlled it, and a metal plate of that shape was created. They seemed very excited about this first-time experience.

As they toured the factory, the father and son were talking about the machines, saying things like, "Dad, that thing is like this, isn't it?" and "That thing does this, doesn't it?"It's easier to talk to your dad about even the smallest things you're feeling, isn't it?This might lead to conversations that you wouldn't normally have at home.

Then it was time for actual manufacturing! They diligently sanded the wood by hand, engraved their favorite letters, and bent the material. They had focused, serious expressions on their faces as they operated machines they had never seen before.

And even while making the cutlery, the father and son were talking to each other, saying things like, "Look, Dad! It's crooked!" and "Why is it like this?"

The cutlery they made themselves! It's being held at the factory for the day to undergo a polishing process to improve its feel in the mouth after the workshop. "I can't wait for the spoon yet! I want to use it!!" they exclaimed, eagerly awaiting its arrival.ParentsThey told me secretly a few days later.

I think you've become quite close to the craftsmen and they've grown to be people you feel comfortable around.

The local factory workers also made an effort to explain things in a way that was easy for the children to understand, and they gave us a fun tour.

You can enjoy such an experience!

I went to elementary and junior high school in Osaka, but we didn't have any factory experience programs. (Did any of you have?) The only places we went to school were to visit a waste disposal plant and the waterworks department. The only factories I knew of were candy factories that we could briefly tour during family trips.

Without opportunities to experience the manufacturing process firsthand, one will never understand its appeal and coolness. It's a world of crafts you can do at home. That said, I think there are very few opportunities for people to think, "I want to learn about and try making things."

So, see with your own eyes, speak, and act. When you get to operate an amazing machine yourself and exclaim "Wow!" or feel excited thinking "I can make something like this!",The impression that "making things = fun"I believe that many different paths will open up for me in the future.

Even though I love physics and have a background in engineering, it wasn't until my fourth year of university that I truly experienced the joy of making things. I sometimes regret not discovering how fun it was sooner, but I didn't have the opportunity to do so through my education.

Well, I've gone on and on, but in addition to making nameplates, there are other things you can enjoy in "town factory activities" such asWe also offer a plan to create interior decor items!

We've launched special discounted rates for parents and children, and for students!

Stepping into the factory, I spoke with the craftsmen.Make things using machinery that's used on-site.
