Hello.Hi, this is Chika from MACHICOCO staff.
Last Saturday, we held the Machikoko Skills School's "Basic Sheet Metal Processing Course"! The instructor was the president of Toyosato Metal Industry, a company specializing in precision sheet metal processing. He's the person on the left in the background, a bit blurry. (laughs)
It starts with classroom lectures. What is sheet metal processing? What is the manufacturing process?
You will learn how to read drawings and the concept of "unfolding," which is essential for sheet metal fabrication, and then complete your own drawings.
This time, painters also participated, saying they wanted to "learn about blueprints." The precision of the dimensions during processing is...“Dimensional tolerance”When the instructor mentioned that "we are aiming for the dimensions while taking the thickness of the paint into consideration," the next step wasIt was invaluable to hear from the painters' side as well!
(By the way, this painter is planning to hold a "Basic Painting Course" as the instructor~~😎💪)
In this lecture, we will carefully consider the expansion and contraction that occurs when metal is bent.
"To make a box of these dimensions... (calculating)"…)"Okay! The dimensions before bending are these lengths!" he says, figuring out the dimensions himself.
We're going to actually make something according to that pattern!
So, off to the site we go! 🏃♂️
We'll bend a metal sheet to make a box.
I wonder if it will turn out to be the exact dimensions I was aiming for!?
The process involves measuring according to the unfolded pattern, cutting, finishing the edges with a file, and then bending.
Even after understanding the overview and principles through classroom lectures, it seems that some things don't quite click without knowing the actual work and processes on site. However, by experiencing it firsthand on-site, they seemed to gain a deeper understanding, saying things like, "Ah, I see! That's how it works!"
Now... did I manage to get the dimensions exactly as I intended...? Measuring is always nerve-wracking.
"Metal expands and contracts more than I thought," "Ah, so this is the difficult part of bending." By experiencing the entire process from calculation to processing themselves, they probably gained many insights.
Finally, there will be a test to see if you learned everything! 🔥
Those who pass will receive a Machikoko Skills School certification 🏅
We asked everyone who took the course for their feedback, and we'll share their comments at the end.
▼What is the reason you came today?
▼Were there any particular things you liked?
We place great importance on "learning while having fun." It's fun because you do it yourself. And because it's fun, you remember and master it!
We'll continuously refine the course content based on your feedback and suggestions. 💪
We'll keep improving it, so please join us! The next session will be held on Saturday, May 15th.
▼ It will also be held on Saturday, May 15th! ▼
