Aluminum curtains for food and beverage establishments
Client: Designer from a store design firm
Graphic design expressed on aluminum panel
The request came from a designer in charge of interior design for restaurants. The project started with their request to install metal curtains with graphic designs inside the restaurant. They mentioned "using laser cutting to create holes," but that would have been prohibitively expensive.
We proposed and produced the product using a technique called design punching. Based on design data drawn in Illustrator, we created the data using design punching. We expressed motifs characteristic of Kyoto on an aluminum panel.

Product Development and Manufacturing Process
① Design data (Illustrator) provided → Data for design punching is created → Design punching process
② R-bending test → shape confirmation → R-bending process
③ Paint selection. We propose color samples, mix the paint to your desired color, match the color, and then paint it.
④ Delivery and installation at local stores

The story from initial request to completion
Details of your request
I'm looking for a manufacturer that makes metal curtains, but I can't find any others. I'm considering laser processing, but I'm not sure what kind of shapes it can produce.
Since there is a set deadline for the construction, we would like to proceed with production accordingly.
High difficulty, troublesome
Due to its large size, some ingenuity was required in the R-bending process to create the wavy effect of the curtain.
We added an extra step to ensure the images wouldn't fall apart at the joints between the boards.
With less than a month left until completion, we are rushing the production process, including color matching for the paintwork.
Production period
1 month
