Solar panel recycling solar bench

Client: Copper wire processing manufacturer

We designed and manufactured a solar bench with the aim of reusing discarded solar panels.

In developing a business that repurposes discarded solar panels, we wanted to reuse them as benches for outdoor use.
We received a request from a wire manufacturer. We started by reviewing their sketches and proposing a design.
We started the design process after gathering detailed information about the intended use and desired features. We used tatami mats, a part of Japanese culture, for the backrest and seat, creating a warm and inviting outdoor bench.
I created a solar-powered bench that allows you to charge your devices while sitting in the shade outdoors, thanks to the built-in battery.

The story from initial request to completion

Details of your request

I want to have a bench like this made, but I don't know who to commission...
The connection was made when someone who knew MACHICOCO consulted with me.
A sense of reassurance through appearance is necessary.
It's the opposite of uncool—it's cool. The design is great; you'd want to leave it in a park or by the river.
A monochrome color scheme would be best. A color that matches the solar panel color would be ideal.
Based on their request, we started prototyping.
We ask you to inspect the product before painting, and then use that to further develop your ideas and make improvements.
The product is complete. We will conduct research, including future developments.
We proceeded with color suggestions and other related matters.

High difficulty, troublesome

Bending the pipes to the size of the bench was the hardest part.
Instead of joining them by welding, the idea was to bend a single pipe and finish it neatly.
Our engineers create the products based on the customer's vision.

The image is of a rickshaw. The circulating fan is also powered by solar panels.
Solar panels also exist in a stylish way.
